Lake Havasu City, AZ, October 21, 2011 – BRP Sea-Doo watercraft racer, James Bushell claimed two of the most prestigious World Championship titles in all of personal watercraft (PWC) racing winning both the Pro Open and Pro GP classes at the recent IJSBA World Finals.
Bushell’s Sea-Doo Centre backed RXP-X* featuring the all new T3 hull design outclassed fields filled with the biggest names in the sport to collect his double championship. The combination of the Sea-Doo T3 hull, Australia tuner/builder Les Cooke’s abilities to bring the new Sea-Doo RXP-X innovations to the racetrack and Bushell’s skill left no question to onlookers which watercraft was the most dominant on the water and what was in store for the future from Sea-Doo RXP-X watercraft racers.

The world's greatest Watercraft Freeriders and Racers are descending once again to the ocean beaches of Pacific City Oregon for this year's top US PWC surf event, which combines the second round of the IFWA Freeride World Championship Tour with the IJSBA Freeride World Cup and Motosurf Western Championship. The Surfslam is held at Tierra Del Mar Beach access located just north of Pacific City, Oregon and is free to the public on this wide expanse of incredible beach. The Blowsion Surf Slam brings over 40 professional competitors from around the world competing for a cash purse and points towards the IFWA World title and competing for the 3rd Annual IJSBA Freeride World Cup. Joining them will be some of the best PWC racers in the world who will display high speed turns through a grueling buoy course all while being challenged by the Pacific Coast's always unpredictable waves. Returning this year to compete will be UK Pro Ski Champion Jordan Fielder as well as US Pro Freerider Ross Champion and current IFWA World Champion Pierre Maixent from France.

Pro and Amatuer Freeride competitors will compete in a head to head double elimination format. A panel of professional judges will score them 50% for their wave surfing and 50% for their aerial maneuvers.

The IJSBA, in its support for the IFWA, will award the winner of this round with the IJSBA Freeride World Cup. The infamous Oregon Pacific Coast surf will boost freeriders over 20 feet in the air while performing surf combinations featuring multiple rotation backflips, Madonna rolls, Superman backflips, inverted barrel rolls, floaters, look backs, aerial re-entries and no handed landings.

Spectators will also witness intense personal watercraft racing with the IJSBA MotoSurf Invitational. The top 20 Pro, Pro Am and Amateur wave racers in the country will battle it out in this challenging Oregon shoreline break. Racers will compete in a multi-moto format of several laps through a buoy course requiring a balance of maintaining high speeds while making split second strategic maneuvers around buoys and other racers while being utterly pounded by the intense Pacific Coast surf.

This event is a weekend of non-stop surf and beach vibe action. The Freeride Qualifying will begin on Friday September 9th. Motosurf racing will take place on Saturday and Sunday Sept 10th and 11th. The main events will take place Saturday and Sunday from 8am-4pm. K&S Kuwait is proudly presenting the second annual K&S BIG AIR SHOWDOWN on Saturday with a $500.00 cash award to the freerider exhibiting the most amplitude in this must see contest of aerial throw downs.

Rounding out the amenities of this action packed weekend is a vendor and sponsor beach display area with food and beverage offerings to add to the festival surf environment. With over three miles of open beach to launch from, be sure to bring your own wave shredding machine to carve up some of the famous Oregon Surf.

Japanese company Sony launched a new series of α cameras and the International Press Launch was held in Greece. Journalists and photographers from Photo magazines from all over the world were gathered in Grand Resort Lagonissi to photo shoot and test the new cameras. Multi National (of Greece) Champion and Hot Products USA authorised dealer Akis Malouchos and Race Craft tester Vasilis Moraitis (R&D, Hot Products and Jettrim supported rider) were invited along with skiers and wake boarders to play on the blue water field with one scope, to challenge the characteristics and specs of the new Sony cameras. Photographs of the two Greek jet ski riders will be featured in photo and camera magazines around the world.

Lake Hartwell, SC – Monster Energy / Kawasaki / Mountain Motorsports teammates Dustin Farthing and Ryan Hardwick win the Triple Crown of Watercross in the Pro Open & Pro Stock Classes.

Farthing, the reigning Pro Runabout World Champion, dominated the competition by winning all three moto’s in rout to his fifth overall victory in the premier Pro Runabout Open class aboard his Mountain Motorsports tuned Monster Energy Kawasaki Ultra 300X. Farthing said afterward, “Since I moved to Atlanta, this is a new hometown race for me! I could not keep winning without the support of all my great sponsors like Monster Energy, Kawasaki, Mountain Motorsports, Jet Pilot, Jet Trim, JE Pistons, Smith, Vortech Superchargers, Hot Products, AP, and Fox.” Farthing continued, “Without my sponsors, and the support of my family and team, I could not be out here doing what I love.”

Ryan Hardwick also took the overall win in the highly competitive Pro-Am Runabout Stock class. This was the second victory of the season for Hardwick, and it could not have come at a better time. The win puts Hardwick in second place in the national championship points chase with only one round remaining. “This was without a doubt my best race of the year,” said Hardwick after the race. “There have only been two riders that have won in this class so far this year, and I’m proud to be one of them.” Hardwick continued, “It was great to get my second win in front of all my friends and family that were here!”

Grand Prix 2011”, our annual racing event that has been on for 16 consecutive years. Based on our statistics,we can say that this event is one of the two greatest games in the jet sport world history, standing side by side with the “IJSBA World Finals”. To strengthen the sport and bring about more impressive developments, the two tournaments have been working closely together for more than a decade and a half.
The widespread success of this tournament has attracted more attention of people and turned them into a large fan base. R&D announces the release of the new R&D/Tial 50mm Surge Protector Kit. R&D has been committed to on going research for any part that proves to be an aid in reducing the inherent and well known clutch issues related to running high performance boost wheels and high boost pressures in the Yamaha 1.8 Supercharged engine. R&D has noticed a significant reduction in clutch related issues in high boost ranges by "Going Big". R&D engineers have concluded through endurance testing that the new 50mm R&D/Tial Valve with its huge 50mm lightweight billet aluminum piston, and 6 massive (bigger than any other valve) pressure relief ports, to outperform the smaller (25-35mm) HKS Sequential, and 35mm Greddy RZ Valves. The trick R&D has found with this valve is, in aggressive off throttle situations with a gear driven supercharger the big Tial 50mm piston responds quickly to allow the reduction of boost pressure which relieves back pressure that can affect the clutch. The new 50mm design also has a much larger diaphragm over HKS and Greddy, which helps the piston react quicker to relieve pressure. If you are running Boost Wheels that produce over 15 pounds of boost, R&D strongly suggests looking into a larger valve setup. It only stands to reason that with higher boost pressures, a larger valve can allow quicker discharge of air volume. Valve kit comes complete with R&D high temp silicone hose, Tial 50mm valve, billet Aluminum V-clamp, banjo style vacuum fitting, and vacuum line.

2012 DATE ANNOUNCED FOR THE APBA NATIONAL TEAM ENDURANCE CHAMPIONSHIP

FOUNTAIN VALLEY, CA – March 8, 2011: The Eighth Annual “World’s Longest Continuous PWC Race” was announced today by the event promoter Jim Russell, DSM Events owner, and Executive PR producer Mike Follmer. The 2012 Hot Products APBA Mark Hahn Memorial, Havasu 300 Mile National Team Endurance Race is all set to launch on February 25, 2012 from Crazy Horse Campground in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. The event will once again be sanctioned by the American Power Boat Association (APBA), and it is expected to draw a record number teams from around the globe as well as all of the top PWC racers. The Teams will be competing against each other while trying to break the 300 mile record of 4 hours 37.08 minutes set by the 2011 Mark Hahn Memorial Overall winners Jean Bruno Pastorello and Pierre Carlier of Team Kawasaki.

The race is being held again in the memory of endurance racer Mark Hahn who was instrumental in providing the momentum to keep endurance racing going strong and growing across the country before his untimely death during a PWC race in 2004. The “Team” format features two riders for runabout (sit down) boat teams and up to three riders for a stand-up craft. Solo riders are also welcome to “Ironman” the race on either style of boat, a real test of endurance and stamina reserved for only the true endurance zealots. The 2011 event was the second PWC event to use transponders in the United States and it was well received and help to increase the professionalism of this national event. Transponders will be used in the 2012 event as well.

“The race is returning to Crazy Horse Campground’s Main Beach site for this very important event”, said Jim Russell, “and the 10 mile course we have approval from the Coast Guard for will pit all the teams against the wind, rough water and long runs that this event has become synonymous with.” In addition to all the weather and water conditions all the teams have to contend with, they will also be required to make fuel stops, without spilling fuel, and make rider changes several times during the race, while modifying their race strategies as the race progresses. There will be six different classes competing on the race course simultaneously, with all the racers competing for the overall title. At the conclusion of the race, each class winning team will be crowned the APBA National Team Endurance Champion for their respective class. A first-class awards sit down dinner will once again be held at the Aquatic center Rods and Recs room.

After the gigantic success and world wide recognition received in the press of 2011 event Mark Hahn Memorial, it is expected that a record number of entries will come out for the eighth annual event. Mike Follmer said, “We’re gearing up to make the 2012 event outshine what we did in 2011 by getting more giveaways and even nicer trophies for the massive awards banquet at the Aquatic center that will far surpass what we did in 2011. We have on the water still photography and magazine coverage to chronicle the event for the riders. The awards banquet will feature a sit down dinner for over 300 people and over 75 award trophies to be presented to overall and class winners with a host of special awards that will again surprise their worthy recipients.”

This years Mark Hahn 300 marked the début of the new Yamaha VXR 1800cc N.A. (naturally aspirated) watercraft. R&D recognized the potential of this new watercraft and prepared it with the new R&D VXR Stage 1 Kit.
Piloted by 16 year old Indonesian Aero Sutan Aswar, the R&D powered VXR did not disappoint.
Aero who competed in the event solo was the first rider to complete 25 laps taking the win in his class and also becoming the first rider to win the Iron Man Award and his class in the same year. Out of 48 entries Aero also finished 7th overall amongst all the Supercharged and Turbo charged watercraft.
The VXR proved to be reliable and have fantastic fuel economy by being able to complete 3-4 laps more between fuel stops over the Supercharged watercraft.

Seven years ago while attending the funeral to put my good friend Mark Hahn to rest I made a promise to him while he lay at rest that I would work diligently to see that his dreams of PWC endurance racing dominance were realized and to also insure that his name and memory were synonymous with the type of endurance racing he and I had spent years supporting, both knowing that it could be done better. Thus began my personal odyssey into the world of race co promoting with DSM,s Jim Russell that has taken every ounce of courage to successfully put on a 300 mile endurance race to honor my friend Mark Hahn.

Hurdling all the road blocks that were thrown in our way the first year back in 2005, the race was successful due to the support of the great people in this sport that were willing to take a nominal risk with me personally and give us money to make the event happen. After last years event, no one was ready for all the press, awards and good will that was generated, and every single sponsor, competitor and fan immediately signed up for this years event with greater enthusiasm and money.

After the inaugural event I realized that if this event was going to succeed it would require a professional, experienced promoter to deal with all the regulatory agencies and grunt work involved with putting on a quality event. Jim Russell of DSM Events stepped in to take over that responsibility which allowed me to focus on sponsorship relationships and the public relations side of things. The entire world of PWC racing owes Jim Russell more praise and gratitude than anyone realizes. Without Jim and his staff unwavering devotion, this event would not have been the best run event I have ever been in. I will never forget the image of Jim approaching the starting line doing his impression of Dick Cheney with a 12 gauge shotgun cocked over his arm to use as the starters gun, and ready to fill anyone who jumped the start with more buckshot than a Texas attorney.

I would also like to thank my friend Ross Wallach, who was also a friend to Mark, for taking time away from his family and race promoting business to come all the way out to Lake Havasu and work tirelessly to help make this event a huge success. Both Jim and Ross are consummate professionals worthy of our respect and support; however, racers need to step up and show them how much we need and appreciate what they do by showing our support by entering events early and often, becoming involved in the promoting of events and taking responsibility for and getting involved in the growth of the sport.

With the support of the APBA and Patrick Mell, all the manufacturers and other fine sponsors, forty eight (48) teams/boats participated in the incident/controversy free 2011 Hot Products APBA Mark Hahn Memorial Havasu 300 that got more Int television, magazine, newspaper and media coverage than the other Havasu race. With over 300 in attendance at the awards banquet, it truly did have the feel of the “good old days” when everyone was energized, positive, involved and having a great time while doing it.

I owe too many people thanks for their help and support to mention them all here, but I do thank you all for everything. The totally positive feedback I have received since the event has energized me and challenged me to make the 2012 Hot Products Mark Hahn Memorial even bigger and better. I know the Big Guy was looking down on us Saturday and was feeling very proud that he was being remembered in such a grand fashion, but I also know he would have been the first to say, “That was truly a great, event

canterbury earthquake - feb 24 update 2300 hrs

A 6.3 magnitude earthquake hit the Canterbury area at 12.51pm - February 22. The quake, approximately 5km underground and located 10km south east of the city has caused wide spread damage, bursting sewage lines, damaging buildings and homes, cutting power and telephone lines to many areas of the city. The Prime Minister, the Rt Hon. John Key, announced a national state of emergency.

Red Cross has eight teams and 120 trained staff and volunteers from all over the South Island currently working in Christchurch to support the relief efforts. Response and welfare teams from Christchurch, Timaru, Nelson, Blenheim, Dunedin, Invercargill, Queenstown and Greymouth are working in conjunction with other agencies such as Civil Defence, New Zealand Police and the local councils. Teams are conducting urban search and rescue, helping set up the 5 welfare centres for displaced people and managing the logistics of distributing Red Cross supplies. Yesterday 200 large tents, 2000 water bottles and 1800 blankets arrived from the Red Cross warehouse in Auckland for distribution.

The new “drop-in” R&D C8 Monster Compressor Wheel and Exducer Seal Plate Kit installs directly into the OEM supercharger without any modification. The new C8 delivers “horsepower you can feel” with instant throttle response, aggressively improved low and mid range acceleration, and intensified top end performance. The new C8 features a light weight, high flow, 8 blade design with 8 supporting splitter veins and an increased exducer compression height over stock. R&D’s larger exducer height and aggressive blade design is the key to improving CFM airflow volume throughout the RPM range. The increased exducer height dimension increases the size of the supercharger by enhancing air pumping volume and efficiency. The C8 out performs any OEM sized compressor wheel in its boost pressure classification. After all, its airflow volume gains that increase horsepower.

The R&D Monster Wheel Kit produces 18 plus pounds of boost pressure @ 8700-8900 rpm, 16+ @ 8500-8600 rpm. The new drop-in R&D C8 also offers superior off throttle surge over other 16-18 pound boost wheels. Less surge increases supercharger clutch reliability.

The new R&D C8 series compressor wheels offer the highest levels of airflow and horsepower gains available for the 1.8L Yamaha engine. A properly tuned C8 set up (with supporting modifications) can produce well over 325+ horsepower.

After a successful 2010 race season, Upstate Watercraft Promotions, Inc (UWP) is pleased to announce the 2011 UWP-IJSBA Watercross National Tour which includes three new venues and two multiyear contracts just signed!

UWP started 2011 out by signing two 3 year agreement with both Panama City Beach, Florida and Lake Hartwell Marketing Alliance, six counties surrounding Lake Hartwell in Georgia and South Carolina.

UWP newest venues for 2011 include Montgomery, AL, Belle River, Ontario Canada, Colonial Beach, VA; Belle River, Canada – the “Canadian Nationals” will follow the Rochester tour stop and will carry one of the largest purses for the 2011 tour!

May 14-15, 2011 – Super Cup of Watercross: Panama City Beach, Florida – the beautiful pearl white sand beaches and emerald green waters of the Boardwalk Beach Resort is the perfect location to open the UWP-IJSBA Watercross National tour. Ocean surf, great food and the best beaches and hotels in Florida.

May 28-29, 2011 – US Open of Watercross: Montgomery, AL – the birth place of the civil rights movement have won the rights to the US Open of Watercross on Memorial Weekend. This event will also hosts the “Roasting of the Champions” and is where we can have a little fun (at our champion’s expense) while honoring our 2010 champions! Give yourselves a few extra days to enjoy the rich history and southern hospitality of Montgomery, AL.

June 18-19, 2011 – Grand Prix of Watercross: Racine, WI set on Father’s Day weekend and let boys be boys! Racine sits between Milwaukee and Chicago right on Lake Michigan, and when there is a race on one of the great lakes you never know what to expect! Racine is a fun city, high-speed all day and outstanding food and fun at night! This was a great family weekend last year!

July 9-10, 2011 – Toyota Water Jam: Rochester, NY has been part of the watercross national tour since 1999 – last year the event moved to a new site in Rochester, Durand Eastman Park. This new venue gives competitors the room to spread out and really enjoy the weekend in the sun!

July 16-17, 2011 – Canadian Nationals: Belle River, Ontario Canada located on the southern shores of Lake St Clair, our Canadian athletes say “bring it on!” UWP is excited to have the Canadian Nationals as part of the tour! Canada vs. USA makes for incredible action out on the water, get your passports ready – Canada here we come…

July 30-31, 2011 – Liberty Cup: Colonial Beach, VA – birthplace of one of our founding fathers, George Washington, America’s first and greatest hero, was crucial to the establishment of the United States as a nation founded on the principles of liberty. Colonial Beach is located at the northern tip of Virginia's Northern Neck, and is one of the few remaining small seaport towns on the Potomac River. Maybe we should all stop by the George Washington Birthplace National Monument and checkout some history of our great country.

August 13-14, 2011 – Triple Crown of Watercross: Lake Hartwell Marketing Alliance did an amazing job with the 2010 tour stop and UWP knew that we would be back for years to come. With six counties surrounding Lake Hartwell, each year will bring a new location on the lake – 2011 venue will be located in Anderson, SC and with 1,000 miles of shoreline there is plenty of room to ride!

August 20-21, 2011 – the Governors’ Cup: Charleston, WV, the final stop on the 2011 UWP-IJSBA Watercross National Tour and the home of the UWP-IJSBA Watercross Nationals, this is where the year’s champions will be crowned! To sweeten this event an additional $10,000 will be added to the weekend contingency. Charleston is continuing to expand the “Rock the River” weekend; we have heard rumors that along with the watercross and fireman’s challenge, Charleston will be bringing in more action – we’ll keep you posted on what is coming down the river!

The UWP-IJSBA Watercross National Tour renew its contract with the Beach Sports Network and will again receive worldwide television coverage with eight TV shows broadcast to over 22 regional sports networks as well as international distribution and reaching more than 82.6 million households.
